Biography
Jagannath Mukherjee was a legendary figure in Indian horticulture and floriculture, often referred to as a "Patron Father" in the field.
He was deeply associated with the Commercial Floriculturists and Growers Association (CFGA) for over 55 years until his death on July 16, 2009.
Mukherjee was a pillar of the CFGA, helping shape the landscape of commercial floriculture in India for more than half a century.
He is remembered as a patron who guided generations of growers and researchers in the industry.
His work spanned both general horticulture and the specific cultivation of ornamental flowers (floriculture).
His birth anniversary, observed on April 15, is still a day of remembrance for those in the Indian floral and gardening community.
Mukherjee's influence persists today through established nurseries like the Mukherjee Horticulture Farm, which continues his tradition of high-quality plant cultivation and rare collections in West Bengal.
