Anand Panchal

Biography

Anand Gadapa (b. 1971, Andhra Pradesh, India) is a contemporary artist currently based in Baroda. He holds a Master of Visual Arts in Art History & Aesthetics from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda (2006), and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from J.N.T. University, Hyderabad (2002).

Gadapa has participated in several group exhibitions across India, including shows at Sarjan Art Gallery and Gallery Sumukha in Bangalore, Prakrit Gallery in Chennai, Bank on Art in Delhi, and the Birla Academy in Kolkata.

His paintings are distinguished by their vibrant, luminous color palette rendered in a deliberately flat style. Drawing from folk traditions, his compositions often feature hybrid beasts and human figures set against layered backdrops. Beneath their visual richness lies a nuanced critique of contemporary socio-political conditions, addressing themes of material excess and the erosion of ethical values in modern society.

He currently lives and works in Baroda.
